With all the media hysteria over the refugee ban by Trump this weekend, Trump is going to announce his pick for Supreme Court Justice earlier than expected. Originally, it was expected that Trump would name his pick on Thursday. Now, there are reports that Trump’s Supreme Court pick could come as early as tomorrow, or Tuesday. The three names most people have been hearing about that are likely to be Trump’s SCOTUS pick are: Judge William Pryor of Alabama, Judge Neil Gorsuch of Colorado and Judge Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania.
Trump will need 8 Democrats, plus all Republicans to get the 60 votes needed to confirm the pick. You can bet that the obstructionist Democrats will do all they can block any of these three possible picks. The Democrats demand Trump nominate a SCOTUS pick who is considered “mainstream” by the Democrats. That means they demand a pick who believes in abortion, global warming and redistribution of wealth. With over 20 Democrats up for reelection in 2018, some may be forced to support Trump’s pick as a lot of the Democrats are in Trump won states.

If Democrats are not willing to cooperate and try to block any of Trump’s pick, Mitch McConnell can invoke the nuclear option, forcing confirmation with only 50 votes. The likelyhood of Mitch McConnell actually having a set of balls and doing this though is slim.
