Wilbert Mora, the second NYPD officer who had been clinging to life in a New York City hospital after being shot by a career criminal in a Harlem ambush has passed away. NYPD officer Wilber Mora was only 27 years old.
It’s with great sadness I announce the passing of Police Officer Wilbert Mora.
Wilbert is 3 times a hero. For choosing a life of service. For sacrificing his life to protect others. For giving life even in death through organ donation. Our heads are bowed & our hearts are heavy. pic.twitter.com/8JiWGbUYTn

The second NYPD officer shot in Harlem died Tuesday — after remaining on life support so his organs could be harvested to help others, according to authorities and law-enforcement sources.
“Some lucky person got a hero’s heart today,” a somber Manhattan cop told The Post of Officer Wilbert Mora, 27.
Mora had been clinging to life since being gunned down along with police partner Jason Rivera, 22, during an ambush while on a domestic-violence call Friday, officials said.
Rivera died Friday evening, while Mora — who was shot in the head and had a bullet lodged in his brain — underwent two surgeries, then remained on life support for organ donation, law-enforcement sources said.
A cop from the NYPD Dominican Officers Association was with the Rivera family at their home when the kin learned of Mora’s death.
