Kim Potter, the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota 26 year officer veteran who mistakenly shot and killed Daunte Wright with a gun instead of using a taser will be charged with second degree manslaughter. Potter could face as much as 10 years in jail. Somehow, I don’t think this will be enough to satisfy the rabid violent left and Buy Large Mansions.
Wright was pulled over around 2 p.m. Sunday for having a suspended registration, authorities said. Police said they determined he was sought on a misdemeanor arrest warrant and tried to arrest him.
But the young man broke away and got back in his car, where he was shot by Potter before speeding off and crashing farther down the road — where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the officer mistakenly grabbed her service weapon instead of her Taser and fired a single, fatal shot.
It’s a bad situation all around. Potter should have known the difference between a gun and a taser, but none of this would have happened if Wright didn’t resist arrest.
