Not only has the FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago energized Republicans for an already energized the base, but it’s gotten a lot of people to down Trump’s Truth Social app. If you like the Twitter interface, then you’ll love the Truth Social interface. Originally only available for Apple products, Truth Social now has an app for Android and a web interface (which I prefer to use). Even California communist Gavin Newsom tried to troll Truth Social, but he gave up after being mocked.
Donald Trump saw a massive 550 percent boost in downloads of his Truth Social app in the week following the raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this month.
According to Data AI, the Trump Media & Technology Group social media platform has now been downloaded approximately 3 million times.
Trump used his profile to denounce the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) after the raid and reveal new information. He was also the first to reveal the FBI was searching his Florida home.
In April, Truth Social topped the Apple App Store charts, when much of the application’s technical difficulties had been resolved, leading to the first big spike in downloads after its initial launch.
Despite the huge spike the week of August 8, the number of total downloads of Truth Social is still dwarfed by mainstream platforms like Twitter, Facebook and even far-right site Gab, which sees tens of millions of monthly users.
The former president has 3.9 million followers on the platform – a far car from the nearly 80 million followers he had on Twitter.
Trump’s app launched in the Apple Store in February 2022 and was conceptualized after Trump was permanently banned from Twitter following the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
