This weekend will be the return of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. also known as the “Nerd Prom” in which media hacks have a dinner in honor of themselves. It features no talent comedians who whine and bitch about Republicans as “unbiased” media hacks cackle along. But there’s one person who wouldn’t be attending the dinner this week. That’s none other than the man who thinks he’s a star, god and all of science. That would be little weasel Anthony Fauci.
Fauci pulled out of the dinner, out of fears it may be another super-spreader COVID-19 event like the Gridiron Dinner was a few weeks ago. Don’t fret for Fauci though. I’m sure there will be plenty of fawning over him at the dinner from the various speakers.
Dr. Anthony Fauci was slated to attend the WHCA dinner but said on Tuesday that he would not do so. CNN reported he made the decision after “an individual assessment of his own risk.” He may also have wanted to avoid the kind of scrutiny he faced after attending the Gridiron Gala, after which scores of attendees tested positive for COVID-19. Dr. Jerome Adams, the former surgeon general, called the Gridiron “a public health disaster.”
