So Brittney Griner has been arrested in Moscow, and faces up to 10 years in a Russian prisoner over drug charges. She plays for the WNBA and hates the American national anthem. So I’m supposed to have sympathy Putin’s thugs arrested Griner? Sorry, I don’t. Griner in 2020 said that the WNBA should never play the national anthem before games, and refused to come out of the locker room when the anthem was played. I don’t know if this reflects the attitude of the 1,000 or so fans that attend games, but I know where I stand. Putin may use Britney Griner as a pawn in the war with Ukraine. She better start to learn the Russian national anthem if she has to go to jail in Russia.
Woman players like Britney Griner typically go to Russia and China to play basketball in the offseason because they can’t make enough money playing in the WNBA. Nobody cares about the WNBA, so players never to pad their incomes.
