Jason Rivera, the NYPD officer killed last night in Harlem was just 22 years old and joined the NYPD in November of 2020. He wrote about wanting to improve community relations and ‘put a smile on someone’s face’.

The 22-year-old grew up in the Inwood district of Manhattan and was shot and killed on Friday night around five miles away, in Harlem.
