Late night comedy has been going downhill ever since Johnny Carson retired. Jay Leno was kind of funny but the rest sucked, and have gotten worse. Back when late night comedians like Johnny Carson were actually funny, and mocked both sides of the political aisle, seems like so long ago. Take for instance this Johnny Carson clip from 1987. He mocked Biden then, after Biden was caught in his first plagiarism scandal.
The Biden for President in ‘88 campaign imploded and didn’t even make it into calendar year 1988. This all happened after it was revealed that the Democrat stole portions of the life story of then-British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock without attribution and appropriated them as his own.
As MRC Research Director Rich Noyes and I wrote in a study for NewsBusters in 2019: “Side-by-side clips showed Biden aping Kinnock talking about his wife being the first in her family to go to college, and about his ancestors playing football for hours after a long day of working in the mines.”
