Donald Trump announced Sunday two lawyers that will lead his impeachment defense team.
The two lawyers representing him will be an Alabama attorney, David Schoen, and a former prosecutor in Pennsylvania, Bruce Castor.
Several South Carolina lawyers who were set to represent Trump at the trial starting next week have left the team.
On Saturday, Trump parted form two of his lawyers, Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier. According to AP, they left the defense team in what one person described to AP as a “mutual decision” that reflected a difference of opinion on the direction of the case.
Trump administration officials say Schoen has already been working with the former president and other advisors to prepare for the upcoming trial, and both lawyers agree that this impeachment is unconstitutional.
