Court documents reveal new details relating to the arrest of the driver who was arrested for intentionally hitting a girl in Draper late Friday morning.
Steven Becky, 19, was arrested Friday for attempted criminal homicide and driving under the influence.
According to the probable cause statement released Saturday, Draper police officers responded to the scene of an auto-pedestrian accident near 15051 S. Winged Bluff Ln., where surveillance video collected on scene showed a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta driving north on the wrong side of the road.
Becky waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives, where he admitted to intentionally hitting the girl “because she was white,” according to the probable cause statement.
The girl was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured hip and head injury.
Upon release from the hospital, Becky was taken into custody and booked into Utah County Jail.
