Oops, Sandy the bartender did it again. She tricked people into giving her money and violated yet another campaign finance law. Ocasio-Cortez had a “family fun run” yesterday in Queens, charging participants $30. Only problem is that Sandy the bartender didn’t notify the participants that the $30 paid were going straight into Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign coffers. As many as 400 people participated in Ocasio-Cortez’s “Family Fun Run”, paying $30 a pop and was billed as a way to “fight for the Green New Deal.” Participants were lead to believe that their money was going to help save the planet, not as a campaign donation to Ocasio-Cortez who walked away with about $11,000 from the event.
Ocasio-Cortez violates campaign finance law again ‘family fun run’ |

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held a 5k in Queens Saturday that she billed as “a Family Fun Run supporting U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal on the Saturday following Earth Day.”
But many of the 400 runners didn’t realize their $30 registration fees were going directly into the lawmaker’s campaign coffers.
“We’re getting together for our own health, for our planet’s health … and to fight for the Green New Deal together,” the freshman Democrat told the participants before they set off.
Some participants felt fooled.
“The site says it’s to benefit her environmental plan,” said one supporter who would not give his name. “If it is going to go directly to her campaign they should have said so.”
