Looks like Trump isn’t going to declare a national emergency at the border tonight during his prime time address, and may not do it at all. That is of course if the Wall Street Journal is to be believed. The legal ramifications of Trump using a national emergency aren’t cleat cut. I was hoping he would declare one tonight and began border wall construction. But Trump may have been told that if he does this, it might violate some law or would just be tied up forever by Democrats with lawsuit after lawsuit to prevent it. Obviously, Trump knows better than I do when it comes to the law regarding this. Hopefully, this story is wrong and Trump declares a national emergency to get the wall, but according to this, it’s not happening. Communist Democrats will never give up new voters and Chamber of Commerce whore Republicans will never give up the cheap labor.
Trump Unlikely to Declare Emergency at Southern Border |
---|
President Trump isn’t expected to declare a national emergency at the southern border when he addresses the nation Tuesday night about his request for funding for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico boundary, according to a person who has reviewed drafts of the speech.
The president’s speech didn’t include any declaration of a national emergency, according to the person. Instead, the speech seeks to explain the president’s rationale for why he viewed the situation at the border as a crisis. Mr. Trump has said he wouldn’t sign any bill ending the partial government shutdown, which is now in its third week, that doesn’t allocate money for hundreds of miles of a border wall.
Declaring a national emergency could let Mr. Trump attempt to bypass Congress by redirecting appropriations money toward the wall and away from other priorities. The president would face legal challenges if he were to declare a national emergency, and it is unclear where the funds for a wall would come from in that scenario.
