There is only one thing positive to say about the latest bloated government spending CR deal reached today. There will be no shut down before the mid-term elections. That would have given the Democrats and their allies in the media another thing to whine about before the mid-term elections as the media and Big Tech try their hardest to influence the 2018 election.
No government shutdown through Dec 7 – spending deal reached |
---|
The House and Senate have reached an agreement on their second package of spending bills and have included a continuing resolution for several other bills in the package to keep those agencies funded through Dec. 7.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.) on Thursday said that the two bodies had completed work on the bills for Defense and for Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, two bills that represent a lion’s share of annual appropriations.
The inclusion of the continuing resolution (CR) would make it difficult for President Trump to make good on threats to shut down the government over border wall funding.
To shut down the government, Trump would have to veto a spending bill or a continuing resolution, which keeps current funding levels in place for any agencies that aren’t funded.
