Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain has died at the age of 81. It was only a matter of time when the family announced that he would stop cancer treatment. I didn’t think it would happen this quickly though.

As much as I disliked the man personally and politically, I don’t relish John McCain’s passing. I understand a lot of people also feel the same way I do and I don’t care if you are happy or not. It’s your own opinion, so I wouldn’t judge you like a progressive would.
I know too many families that have lost loved ones because of cancer. This is why I have at least some sympathy for John McCain and his family. Some call him a war hero, others call him “Songbird.” The bottom line is, cancer sucks.
My heart is broken. I am so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years. He passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved, in the the place he loved best.

Now the question is, who does Arizona governor Doug Ducey replace McCain with in the Senate? Rumors months ago about Cindy McCain, his wife would be picked by Ducey. I hope this isn’t the case.
