How pathetic is this? Engineers called Florida transportation officials two days before the FIU bridge collapse to report cracking at 1 end of span. Nothing was done, it was ignored, and the rest is history. Six dead, several others injured and cars crushed under 950 tons of rubble after the bridge collapsed this past week. FIU was on Spring Break aka Easter Vacation (like they used to call it when I went to school). Imagine if FIU students weren’t on Spring Break this past week. As bad as the bridge collapse was, there would have been a lot more people killed and injured if students were at school and walking the bridge at the time of the collapse.
