Manigault Newman, who worked as communications director for the Office of Public Liaison at the White House, was once a contestant on Trump’s television program “The Apprentice,” where she was dubbed the program’s “villain.” The AP noted she is one of the president’s “most prominent African-American supporters.”
She previously worked in the White House during former president Bill Clinton’s administration.
Manigault Newman is no stranger to controversy. White House reporter April Ryan alleged earlier this year that Manigault Newman attempted to physically and verbally intimidate her during an exchange. Manigault Newman denied the allegation.
