Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) has resigned from the Freedom Caucus over the GOP healthcare fiasco because he wanted to vote for the bill:
The caucus, made up of 30-40 House GOP members, rallied against the Affordable Health Care Act (AHCA) pretty much from the get go because it “did not fulfill the Republican promise to fully repeal and replace ObamaCare.”
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) needed 216 votes, but supposedly fell short by 20 votes. Trump even allegedly told caucus leader Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) “the would hold him responsible if the bill failed.”
After Ryan withdrew the support, Poe tweeted support for Trump and Ryan:
ted Poe was only in the Freedom Caucus to begin with because he needed street cred for his election.. Time for Poe to pay the price and get voted out.
