So far, with 4.5% of the caucus results already in Maine, Ted Cruz has a commanding lead of 50% to 31% over Trump. But these are early results. All of the caucuses in Maine don’t close for another few hours. But it’s a good start for Ted Cruz in a liberal progressive state like Maine. So far, these includes 715 votes. In 2012, there were about 5,500 or so votes in the GOP caucus, so there aren’t a lot of votes expected, unless they have record turnout and the number doubles.
We will be posting our results page for this weekends races shortly. Maine caucus so far: Cruz 49.8%
Trump 30.8%
Kasich 10.5%
Rubio 7.6%— Decision Desk HQ (@DecisionDeskHQ) March 5, 2016
Early Maine caucus results: Cruz 50% Trump 31% |

There has been no public polling out of Maine so it’s been difficult to get an idea of where the caucus might be headed. If it’s anything like these early results, Ted Cruz is well on his way in the Northeast, a place the media pundits always claimed he couldn’t win.
