Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz uses rival Donald Trump’s own words against him in a new campaign ad.
The three-minute spot features clips of Trump touting his relationship with Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
“I’ve known her and her husband for years and I like both of them a lot,” Trump says in the ad.
“I think she really works hard and I think she does a good job. You’ll be looking at the record of Hillary Clinton and how did she do at secretary of State. [It is] probably above and beyond anyone else and everything else.”
Marco Rubio, another GOP presidential candidate, is similarly linked to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his past efforts on immigration reform legislation.
“[He was] not only totally committed, he was in that room with us for hours a day, week after week after week,” Schumer says in the clip of Rubio’s role in 2013’s failed Gang of Eight legislation that would have opened a pathway toward citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
