Trey Gowdy has announced that he will retire at the end of his term in 2016. I wish this was just a sick April Fools’ joke but it isn’t. Gowdy, who over the weekend was mentioned as a possibility Republican majority leader to replace Kevin Boehner McCarthy. Hopefully someone will run for his seat who is a strong conservative and not a Lindsey Graham Republican. You could get either one in South Carolina. This has to be great news for Democrats, though Gowdy will still pursue Benghazi-Hillary.

I suppose Gowdy wants to spend more time with his family and is fed up with the RINO establishment in DC. I mean, who could blame him?
