Likud significantly extends lead over Zionist Union

Likud Party up 30 seats to 24 over Zionist Union with 93% of the Israel election vote counted.

Tonight’s Israeli election is a lot like the mid-term elections last November. Remember when the media was claiming there was no way for the GOP to win the majority in the Senate? Remember when the liberal eggheads were shocked that Illinois, Massachuttes and Maryland elected Republican governors? Yea, it’s like that.

Update:

So much for the socialists in Israel (and America) claiming Netanyahu was done. As of the latest vote totals at about 3am in Israel, Netanyahu’s Likud party is drawing 24.4 percent of the vote while the socialist Zionist Union comes in second at only 19 percent. So far, about 60% of the total vote is in. More votes that come in tomorrow will be from the Israeli military. Do you honestly think they voted for the socialists Zionist Union over Netanayahu?

This election was of course a big news story as leftists assumed that the election was in the bag for the Zionist Union. Now that the Likud Party seems to be crushing the leftists in Israel, it seems to have dropped off the map in the American media. What little scant coverage it has gotten is still peddling the lie that the election is ‘too close too call.’

According to official vote-counters, after tallying 57 percent of the ballots, Likud draws 24.4 percent of the vote; Zionist Union comes in second at 19 percent.

The parties that follow are Yesh Atid (8.8 percent); Joint Arab List (8.4 percent); Kulanu (7.6 percent); Bayit Yehudi (6.3 percent); Shas (6.1 percent); Yisrael Beytenu (5.6 percent); United Torah Judaism (5.2 percent); and Meretz (3.9 percent).

Eli Yishai’s far-right outfit Yahad has so far attracted just three percent, insufficient for the minimum four-seat representation in parliament.
