Eric Garner was a black man, killed by a police officer in New York after being put in an ‘illegal’ choke hold. The grand jury will not indict the officer, which will likely enflame race relations even more. Unlike the Mike Brown situation, I don’t know all the facts about Eric Garner, or why the cop put him in an illegal choke hold. I can’t determine if the grand jury got this one right or not since I really haven’t read much about this story.
Unlike the Mike Brown case, which was a clear self defense case for Wilson, this chokehold death of Eric Garner doesn’t seem to have a reason.
The Eric Garner case happened back in July, and he reportedly suffered a heart attack while in the choke hold by the cop.
The only knock against Eric Garner I can find so far is that his family is being represented by none other than AL Sharpton. That’s not going to help them gain sympathy for the loss of Eric Garner, regardless if the cop was right or not.

Now we’ll see if New York starts to burn down like Ferguson did after the Darren Wilson case. Again, I don’t know enough about this story to determine if the cops were in the wrong here. The bottom line is, Eric Garner is dead.
