Democrat Tom Harkin, who is retiring from his Iowa Senate seat is now mocking Joni Ernst because of her looks and because she is a female. Tom Harkin is a crusty, old bitter white progressive liberal male who backed nut job Howard Dean in 2004. Harkin said:
“In this Senate race, I’ve been watching some of these ads,” Harkin said at the Story County Democrats’ annual fall barbecue last week honoring the retiring senator. “And there’s sort of this sense that, ‘Well, I hear so much about Joni Ernst. She is really attractive, and she sounds nice.’”
“Well I gotta to thinking about that. I don’t care if she’s as good looking as Taylor Swift or as nice as Mr. Rogers, but if she votes like Michele Bachmann, she’s wrong for the state of Iowa.”

Not only does Tom Harkin prove what a sexist he is, but he also shows just how pitiful and desperate the Democrats. After the Des Moines Register poll came out showing Ernst up seven on Bruce Braley, they knew the writing was on the wall and Iowa was going to elect a woman to federal office for the first time in history. Democrats hate it.
Now imagine if any Republican, running or retiring had made these remarks about a leftist female Democrat running for office. The media would be going crazy, leftists would be yelling war on women, and Democrat ads on Monday and Tuesday would be full of the war on women BS, using these remarks. So why the double standard for Tom Harkin?
