The Rhodes emails released Tuesday, proved that the Administration was playing politics when they sent Susan Rice to all five Sunday show show she could blame the Benghazi attack on a you tube video. But there were earlier emails from the State Department, some while the attack was happening, blaming Benghazi on al Qaeda.
A State Department email released by Congressman Jason Chaffetz during Thursday’s Oversight Committee hearing (embedded below) proves the State Department was certain the day of the the Benghazi attack that it was conducted by al Qaeda affiliate Ansar Al Sharia. Congress has had the email, called “Libya update from Beth Jones,” since August 2013, but Chaffetz first received permission to release the email Thursday, leading him to ask during the hearing, “If the video was a cause, why did Beth Jones of the State Department tell the Libyan Ambassador that Ansar Al Sharia was responsible for the attack?”
The emails consisted of a series of reports from Beth Jones, who was then then Assistant Secretary of State to Hillary Clinton, and cover a period from 4:49 pm EDT on September 11, 2012-12:46 pm on September 12, 2012.
An email sent on 5:55 pm on 9/11/12 first indicated the State Department believed Ansar Al Sharia terrorists conducted the attack. Ms Jones says “the extremist group Ansar Al Sharia has taken credit for the attack in Benghazi
