Rand Paul in 2009 accused Dick Cheney of pushing for the Iraq war so that Hilliburton could benefit. Cheney was CEO for Halliburton between 1995 and 2000. Rand Paul’s 2009 statements sound an awful lot like progressive liberal screaming during the Bush presidency. They gave two reasons for war in Iraq. Either to take their oil (which Bush stupidly never did), or to benefit Cheney’s old company, Halliburton.
Rand Paul: Dick Cheney pushed Iraq war for Halliburton (Video) |

Of course the problem for Rand Paul and the anti-war progressive liberal left is other facts that Del Dolmonte makes in the comment section of HotAir:
1. Leftist billionaire George Soros bought $61 million worth of the firm.
2. Many Halliburton employees-including a Senior Vice President-donated to O’bama in 2008 and again in 2012 (source: OpenSecrets.org)
3. O’bama gave Halliburton no-bid work in Iraq, but then cancelled it because he was (rightly so) afraid of the optics.
Bill Clinton also gave Halliburton no-bid work, during his own War of Choice.
And then of course there are decades of Democrat Lyndon Johnson being in bed with Halliburton, but those stories alone would fill an entire book.
AS if anyone cares, I was against the Iraq war before it started. I’m just not into this national building thing in Muslim countries that hate us. That still doesn’t change the fact the Ron/Rand Paul’s of the world and progressive liberals need to get the facts right before tossing around accusations against Cheney. Between this, and Rand Paul’s recent pimping of amnesty, I starting to have second thoughts about this guy.
