This coming Tuesday there are primaries in two states that Mittens Romney is expected to have trouble winning. Alabama and Mississippi. There is also a caucus in Hawaii, and I haven’t seen any polls on that. But being that Hawaii is such a liberal state, I assume Romney will win there. One poll actually had Romney up by 10 points in Alabama, but it seems that it was an outlier as more recent polls put either Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum up in the state. IN Mississippi however, a new Rasmussen poll actually puts Romney ahead of the field by eight points. The latest Rasmussen poll has Mitt Romney at 35% and Rick Santorum at 27%. This surprising lead for Romney may be due to Gov. Phil Bryant’s endorsement.
A new statewide telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters in the Magnolia State shows Romney with 35% of the vote, while former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich each draw support from 27%. Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with six percent (6%). One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.
