Congratulations America. You’re paying for the auto bailout is officially paying off! So much so that Government Motors has been forced to stop production of the Chevy Volt (You know, that electric car that kept catching on fire?) And, with your bail out money, Government Motors has been forced to lay off 1,300 workers because of the epic failure that the Volt has been. But remember. According to the Obama regime and his press secretaries in the lame stream media, the auto bail out saved America or something.
The maker has notified 1,300 workers at the GM plant in Detroit that they will be idled from March 19 through April 23 while assembly operations are idled. But the maker insists the latest setback is not a sign of long-term problems for the plug-in hybrid, noting that Volt sales in February jumped 70 percent over the prior month.
“We’re going to do what we need to the keep production in line with what the market demands,” said GM spokesperson Michelle Malcho.
