The date of the Texas Republican primary is still limbo. It was original scheduled for April, but may not be held until May because of the redistricting issue going on there. In any event, according to Hotair, Rick Santorum is crushing the rest of the field in polling. Santorum leads second place Newt Gingrich by 27 points at 45% to 18%. Mitt Romney only comes in at 16%, and Ron Paul who is a Rep. from the state of Texas only gets 14% of the vote, coming in dead last. The poll was conducted by University of Texas and the Texas Tribune.
It’s looking like the earliest possible date for the Texas GOP primary will be May 29th. That’s a long way away and a lot can change between now and then.
